Dedicated to the memory of Donald Bateman

This site is a tribute to Donald Bateman. What can we say about our dad, born 19 March 1933 in St Mary’s hospital one of 5 children, was evacuated with his brother Tommy to Newbury during World War 2. Met our mother when he was 17, and lied about his age, so was a bit of a shock to her when he had to do his National Service with the Royal Marines. When he returned they were married in St John’s Cathedral and went on to have 5 children Linda, Paul, Mark, Susan and Amanda and 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He died on 1 July 2024, at the age of 91. We ask that instead of buying flowers, please consider a donation to a cause close to our hearts. The reason that we have chosen to support The Rowans Hospice is because our brother Paul died there on 11 September 2003 at the age of 42. Thank you all for your support.
