This site is a tribute to Donald Bateman. What can we say about our dad, born 19 March 1933 in St Mary’s hospital one of 5 children, was evacuated with his brother Tommy to Newbury during World War 2. Met our mother when he was 17, and lied about his age, so was a bit of a shock to her when he had to do his National Service with the Royal Marines. When he returned they were married in St John’s Cathedral and went on to have 5 children Linda, Paul, Mark, Susan and Amanda and 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He died on 1 July 2024, at the age of 91. We ask that instead of buying flowers, please consider a donation to a cause close to our hearts.
